Effect of DNP and ASA on temperature rise in the Sauromatum appendix. DNP was added to the buffer solution containing inducers at various concentrations. Each set of treatments with DNP (A and B) was carried out with one pre D-day appendix. Temperature rates were calculated from temperature values in A and plotted against the temperature values (C). The legends are identical for A-B. Control sections were treated only with the buffer solution containing DNP at the appropriate concentrations. Environmental chamber temperature was ~21°C.
